1• Computer Engineering.
Computer engineering is a discipline that combines both Electrical engineering and Computer Science. Computer engineers usually have training in electrical engineering, software design and hardware software integration instead of only software engineering or electrical engineering. Computer engineers are involved in many aspects of computing, from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers, to circuit design. This field of engineering not only focuses on how computer systems themselves work, but also how they integrate into the larger picture.

Computer engineers are involved in writing software and firmware for embedded microcontrollers, designing VLSI chips, designing analog sensors, designing mixed signal circuit boards, and designing operating systems. Computer engineers are also suited for robotics research which relies heavily on using digital systems to control and monitor electrical systems like motors, communications, and sensors.

Admissions in VIT is done on merit basis. In General category the cutoff percentage for IT branch is above (Check) in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics in HSC (XII std).
1.a Teaching Methodology:
Teachers use OHPs and LCD Projector for PowerPoint Presentation to teach students in the class. Educational CDs are encouraged. Students and Faculties participate to give seminars on current topics from various International Technical Societies like IEEE etc. Every Lecture room is having OHP and there is one Multimedia Projector in the Department.
1.b Departmental Library:
There are around 510(Check) books and about 30(Check) Educational CD’s and VCD’s.

1.c Computing Facility:
The department provides good facilities like lab facilities. The lab is well equipped and there are about 120 computers. Computers are upgraded to the recent developments in the software . The various labs available in the department are RDBMS, DATA STRUCTURES, MULTIMEDIA, CASE TOOLS, SOFTWARE COMPONENTS. The lab also provides internet connectivity which enables the students to get online education . Networking is one of the important area of interest in Information Technology, the department provides well equipped facilities in the networking lab.

2• Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
Electronics engineering is a discipline dealing with the behaviour and effects of electrons (as in electron tubes, transistors and ICs) and with electronic device, systems, or equipment. The applications of electronics are in a wide range of products, including consumer electronics; telecommunications; diagnostics and treatment devices for medicine; audio and video; control; computing; data storage and retrieval; photography; measurement and metrology equipment; aviation and avionics; manufacturing; natural resource extraction; and early warning and radar.

Electronics has a major role in improving productivity in such diverse industries as aviation, telecommunication, entertainment, oil, energy, and agriculture. Electronics engineering is a constantly changing and widening branch of the engineering profession having applications in every discipline of engineering. Increased production and demand by government and businesses for communication equipment, computers and military electronics along with consumer demand and increased research and development on robots and other types of automation contributes to the growth of employment opportunities in the field. Candidates having a creative and inventive mind and also are good at physics and mathematics will probably find electronics engineering a challenging and lucrative career.

Department of Electronic was the oldest and the largest department in TSEC, which is now changed to Department of Electronics & Telecommunication(in 2002) the first batch of students (around 30) was admitted in 1983.

It offers Under Graduate course in the field of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. It also offers Post graduate course in Electronics and Telecommunication and Computers. The department is equipped with the state-of-art equipments and has well developed laboratories in the related fields. The dept. has its own LAN with Novel Netware, Windows-NT and Linux servers and is connected to the Institute LAN which is with ISDN line for internet access.

It is the Mission of the Department to develop in its students, innovative engineering skills necessary to keep pace with, and be highly sought-after in, the rapidly advancing Electronics and Telecommunications industry.
2.a Major Laboratories:
The Department has following five Laboratories which are well Equipped with latest Hardware/Instruments :
Basic Electrical & Electronics Lab
Basic Communication Lab.
Electronics Devices & Circuits Lab.
Microprocessor Lab [with LAN].
MICROWAVE & TV Lab.
Advanced communications.
Instrumentation & Control Lab.
Project Lab [with LAN].
System Programming Lab [with LAN].
Facility of Internet is available for all the students.

Each Laboratory is manned by one Laboratory Assistants (First Class Diploma holders) and one Laboratory Attendants.

3• Mechanical Engineering.
Mechanical Engineering is an engineering discipline which involves the application of principles of Physics for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines. It requires a solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, energy and manufacturing.

Mechanical engineers use the core principles as well as other knowledge in the field to design and analyze motor vehicles, aircraft, heating and cooling systems, watercraft, manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, robotics, medical devices, etc. The work of a Mechanical Engineer can be extremely challenging and fulfilling, requiring IT, design and analytical skills together with an ability to work as a team. As their work involves production, transmission and use of mechanical power and heat, they have to analyze the different materials used for the machines; investigate the different energy sources and the power they generate and the design problems if any. While designing and making a commercial product; they have to take into account all the business and marketing aspects to make sure that the product is affordable. Mechanical Engineers are employed in various industries whose function is concerned with design, manufacturing, maintenance, mining, transportation, communications, oil refining, chemical manufacturing, paper, sugar, textiles, aerospace, nuclear energy, natural gas production and transmission, construction, etc.

4• Electrical Engineering.
Electrical Engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the study and application of electricity, electronics, and electromagnetism. It covers a range of subtopics including power electronics, control systems, signal processing and telecommunication. Electrical engineers are usually concerned with using electricity to transmit energy, while Electronics engineers are concerned with using electricity to transmit information.

The growing utilization of the electrical energy is a decisive prerequisite for a rapid development of industry and agriculture. The branch of electrical engineering mainly deals with the generation, distribution and utilization of electrical energy. As electrical energy is required everywhere, opportunities for electrical engineers exist in every sphere of modern life, from manufacturing to process industries, from robotics to embedded systems, from automobile to transport, from aviation to navigation.

Work of an Electrical Engineer includes: Assessing the maximum demand of Electrical Power, Designing and calculating a prospective electrical installation etc. They may work on the design of electrical circuits, electrical machines, generation & distribution of electrical power, electrical drives & controls, for various applications of electric power stations, the lighting and wiring of buildings, the design of household appliances or the electrical control of industrial machinery.
