Abstract

Automation testing plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of modern web applications. Manual testing is time-consuming, error-prone, and inefficient for large-scale systems. This paper resents an experimental study on automated functional testing of web applications using Selenium WebDriver.A finance-based web application was selected, and critical modules such as login validation, navigation, and form submission were automated using Selenium WebDriver with Java and TestNG framework. The same test cases were also executed manually to compare performance. Experimental results demonstrate that automation testing significantly reduces execution time, improves accuracy, and enables efficient regression testing. Manual execution of 50 test cases required approximately 4 hours, whereas automation completed the same within 30 minutes with consistent results. The study highlights the effectiveness of Selenium in real-world software development environments, particularly within Agile and DevOps practices. The findings confirm that automation testing enhances productivity, reduces human error, and improves overall software quality.
